Welcome to Planned Giving ResourcesSM - A note from James Hohn
The past few months updating the information available free to the nonprofit community has been exciting and rewarding. I have had the opportunity to speak with a number of long-time users of the data provided here and am confident that with the additional information you will find on the site, we will be able to answer your questions and keep your organizations on target to reach your goals.
For those of you I haven’t met, please let me introduce myself. I have worked with a variety of nonprofits during the past twenty five years, beginning with the United Way of Greater New York and most recently as Director of Gift Planning for Meridian Health Affiliated Foundations on the Jersey Shore.
During that time I also worked in the foundation and charitable giving departments of several major firms, including Merrill Lynch where I created an entire national gift planning administration department managing a staff of 40 people – twelve of whom were attorneys.
These experiences, as well as my on-going volunteer activities have prepared me to accept the torch held high for so many years by Jim Potter. His legacy will live on in the reborn Planned Giving Resources. As you can see, we have built on the array of services that Jim offered with some new and interesting additions – and we’re not done. The best is yet to come.
I encourage you to look over the website and the services we offer because I very much welcome your comments and suggestions. I am dedicated to continuous growth in my career, personal life and in the investment I am making to serve the nonprofit community through this website. I will consider any ideas to add additional free information, improve or expand the content and presentation and will make every effort to obtain any services you feel will be beneficial for our community. As none of us is as smart as all of us, it is my hope that we can support each other and the many professionals, volunteers and beneficiaries of the not-for-profit community.
We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. Winston Churchill
